God Gold of the Day
“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”
–John 16:33
Hope everyone had an awesome weekend! It’s the start of a new week with brand new opportunities on the horizon of our lives. Of course you want to get the week started on the right foot, having a good start that starts with Monday. The crucial part about starting Monday’s off on the right foot is the same as any other day, starting with God. I’ve been learning this lesson the hard way lately, by starting your day off with God, the truth and light He brings into our lives completely changes our perspective before we ever step foot in the world. Many days I have failed to start with the Lord and by not doing so, trusting in what I got, I notice how easily enticed we can be by the darkness of this world. Starting with God today led me to this verse and if you read the verse you can already guess that my day got off to a God start.
This world can be a tough place to live and being the weak, easily enticed humans we are, it doesn’t take long to realize the importance of getting the day started with God is a major need. I’ve noticed how easily my perspective on everything is influenced by my thoughts, beliefs and focus. Without starting with God, it’s like starting the day in a fog, you can’t see anything clearly, your thoughts are a mess, and you feel defeated. I’m not saying you have to start the day in a scheduled Bible time or devotion even though that helps. There is so many ways to start the day with God and so many opportunities to spend that time with Him. We go into the week and each day with our perspective playing such a big role. What you believe and focus on is how you’ll see your day. Tomorrow is Monday and so often we here all this negative about Monday, “ughh, Monday’s suck, the work week starts and I’m dreading it.” The key thing about starting your day, starting the week, is your perspective. You can see Monday or each day this week in one of two ways. A new week brings more troubles, struggles and to-do lists and that just sucks. I can’t wait til the weekend gets here. OR, you can see the new week as new opportunities, new challenges to face, the chance to get better, a new day God has given you to live and enjoy.
That’s a big difference right? So often we are consumed of the “trouble” Jesus mentions we will face in this world but we don’t really see what else Jesus says, have peace and take heart because Jesus has overcome the world. Jesus has brought deliverance and victory to our lives!!! No matter what the world around us says, the lies the enemy constantly pours in our head about the failures of our past and why we deserve to feel defeated even act defeated. Jesus has won the victory over Satan and the world giving us complete freedom and peace to live in!!! What you focus on and believe is how you live and act. Jesus has given us life, freedom and victory in this life, when we focus and believe His truth, the troubles of this world aren’t troubles anymore. The nasty Monday’s aren’t so nasty. Jesus gives us a perspective shift here, bringing His light to break up that defeated fog. Getting the day and week off to a God start, we see life through His truth, and our perspective is raised. Because Jesus rose from the grave on the third day, in that moment when He was holding our victory, our perspective was raised also.
Instead of “I have to”, we can say “I get to.” Instead of the failures of yesterday we can focus on Jesus’ victory from the grave that still reigns true today. Instead of feeling wrapped up by defeat, we can live victoriously. Instead of looking to the week ahead as more troubles and struggles, in Jesus’ raised up perspective, being an overcomer through Christ, troubles turn to opportunities to get stronger, struggles are now seen as challenges. It’s all in how you see it. If you start the day in what God has told us in His Word, the light and truth it brings to the dark fog wanting nothing more than to overtake us. Your perspective will be lifted, you can see you’re an overcomer through Christ, He has already overcome the world and all it’s troubles so we have nothing to worry about but everything to get jacked up and daggun excited about! Start today, each day, and this week with God’s perspective, get off to a God start!!! If you hear someone else struggling to make it, share this verse with them, encourage them through the fact they don’t have to live that negative defeated lifestyle anymore, help raise their perspective! That’s what this life is all about. As easily as our perspective can be raised by Christ, we can easily let the world lower it. I need this reminder just as much as you do so hold tight to the truth that Jesus has overcome the world, hold tight to this victory we have in Christ, and help others hold tight too! Have a God start to the week everybody!!!!
Perspective can change the atmosphere. That’s why James said in 1:2, “Count it all joy”. It’s about proper perspective in trials. Good word, man!
