‘And this is the judgment: the light has come into the world, and people loved the darkness rather than the light because their works were evil. For everyone who does wicked things hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his works should be exposed. But whoever does what is true comes to the light, so that it may be clearly seen that his works have been carried out in God.” ‘ -John 3:19-21

Slow Down to Speed Up

God Gold of the day

As we are on this journey of “movement,” together, seeking and learning how to move forward in our lives past the things that have been holding us back and into the MORE God has for us. There is a few key concepts that we need to understand before we can even think about there being any movement happening in our lives.

  1. SPEED TRAP/”To progress is always to begin again.” – Martin Luther

First, we see that just like any road trip the main goal is to get to our destination as fast as possible. In our human ways of doing things and thinking, the solution is to always go faster right? Well, that’s not exactly the case as followers of Christ. We can’t keep going faster and faster if our vehicles, (bodies) are running low on gas. Just like you’d have to stop and get gas, use the bathroom and eat on a road trip, we have to spend time slowing down, being still, and get fueled up by God’s truths in the Gospel. Faster isn’t always going to get you there quicker, it will just get you stuck, stranded and needing fuel quicker. If we spend time daily returning to the Gospel, returning to Jesus, He gives us all the fuel we need to keep moving forward.

2. BIG TRUTHS IF WE GO FAST WE CAN MISS/

John 3:16 says Jesus came to give us eternal life, so that we wouldn’t perish. And Romans 6:23 says; “For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

We have to slow down and spend time with these truths that have changed our lives and saved us from the beginning because they can and will do the same each day as we walk out this journey of life. These verses help us see that without God’s gift and what Jesus has done for us, WE WOULD PERISH!!! But God sent Jesus to save us from that life of death that we deserved to have. You see, the wages of sin is death, and sin can be defined as any time we decide to go our own way and reject going God’s way. If we continue to try and go fast, we can find ourselves running on our own power and things of this world. But anything not of God is sin, and going this way will always lead to death. BUT God has given us a FREE GIFT, nothing we could do to earn it, it’s literally ALL GOD’s work and none of our own. He has given us the chance to walk in His ways, to live daily abiding in Jesus, which results in life and life ETERNALLY! God has given us so much fuel to live on and move forward in our lives but have we slowed down long enough to spend time with Him to take these truths in? When we slow down and go to God, He will give us all we need and then some to run this race of life faster than we could ever imagine. Going farther doesn’t start by going faster, it starts by slowing down and spending time with the God who is in control and has given us this life to live to start with!

How are you slowing down today and spending time with Jesus?

Take a Bite into Movement

God Gold of the day

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God. ‘

-John 3:16-18
