The Gift

God Gold of the day

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!! Hope today is filled with all the fun, family, and joy that comes with celebrating this awesome holiday of Christmas! I know you’ve probably already got many presents already but I couldn’t help myself, I decided to get you something to!! Now it’s not in the usual pretty wrapping paper and it isn’t something you can physically touch or own, it’s EVEN BETTER!!!!

Okay, ARE YOU READY!?!? For Christmas this year, after all that you have done for me in being a constant encouragement and reminder of what this life is all about. The constant support and love I’ve received from each of you can never be repaid but I want to share a reminder with you today with hopes that it will be the God Gold gift that may not fit under a Christmas tree but hopefully it will fit perfectly in your heart!

Today, my gift to you is just the simple reminder of what this Christmas season is all about. The whole reason for their being “Christ” in Christmas is simply that, the gift of Jesus! I know that may not sound like the most fascinating or valuable gift you’ve ever received but I promise you, if you take some time to dwell on the truth of the Gospel, which will be displayed for you in this video. Jesus is the best, most valuable, longest lasting, extraordinary, most AWESOME gift that any of us could ever receive! I don’t want to say that because it sounds good to say, I say that because in my experience, Jesus really has been the greatest gift I’ve ever gotten!!!

I know usually the talk of Jesus this time of year is when He came into the world as was born in a manger to a couple by the name of Mary and Joseph. But today, instead of sharing with you how awesome this moment was when Jesus came into the world, I want to share with you when Jesus came into my life. I hope this can be gift that brings you back to the moment that you received the gift of Jesus into your life or if you haven’t received this gift, then I pray today that you can open up this gift and come to know Jesus personally!

Jesus came into my life when I was 22 years old. I had spent years growing up in church, you know, doing all the “right things,” playing the church games but it wasn’t until 22 that Jesus opened my eyes to see Him as the greatest gift ever laid in front of me. I spent years living in whatever way I wanted to, chasing the many different “gifts” the world had to offer. They were presents that were beautifully wrapped, the nicest wrapping paper with the biggest bows. Man, they all looked so enticing and so perfect but upon unwrapping each present that I thought would be the gift that I needed, I found that those boxes were empty time and time again. I chased after these gifts thinking they would give me all I had ever longed for but time and time again I was left with nothing but hurt, pain, and emptiness. These presents for me came in a variety of different forms and as I don’t mind sharing what they are, I’ll save that for another time. In the broadest sense I just want to show you that all the things that the world may offer, these beautifully wrapped gifts of success, satisfaction, love, and joy. We see these presents looking so good, everyone is doing them, we are surrounded by an influence saying. “they will bring you all these things you seek.” The truth is, nothing of this world will do that, no amount of alcohol, money, sex, drugs, no title or amount of achievement, no physical possessions such as a car, house or anything, NONE of this will bring you the fullness of life that our hearts long for.

Then there’s this one present, after chasing all the presents of the world for so long it became hard for me to see that this present was even an option, especially to think it was a good option. From the world’s point of view, this present would just lead me to living a boring, no fun, neat and clean, unfulfilling life. At least from all my years in church, the way I saw people who had this present act and live, the way I found myself acting and living, then the way I saw the world tell me there was better presents to open, that was my view of this gift.

I’ll be honest with you though, we can be easily led to having preconceived notions of what the gift of Jesus will bring to our lives, I mean I had this picture in my head of what Jesus looked like, a fella in a suit and tie, never has any fun, serious and boring, honestly kind of stale and dull. I placed my view of Jesus in what I saw around me and that’s what led me to pursue what other presents were out there in this world.

It wasn’t until 22 that Jesus opened my eyes to see that He is SO MUCH different than anything or anyone of this world. What it took for me was to stop having my own personal view of who I thought He was, and actually open up the gift He so graciously has given to me. As Jesus moved me to open up the gift that allowed me to see who He really was, I learned that just like anything else, it’s not what we see on the outside of the box that matters, it’s what’s on the inside that really changes our lives. It was seeing and learning of His heart, realizing that despite all of the bad and wrong presents I had opened and chased after for so many years, there was this gift that said, “From: Jesus, To: Jordan.”

I thought Jesus was so holy and perfect, how could He still give me this gift after all the wrong I had done?? It didn’t make sense but this is what I found inside this gift from Jesus as I began opening it up. In this one present of receiving Him came many more gifts wrapped up inside. He gave me forgiveness for all the sins I’ve ever committed. He gave me grace and mercy, still pursuing me and making this gift available to me although I didn’t deserve it in the least bit. There was peace, joy, and satisfaction, all these things I looked for in the presents of the world I only truly found them in my heart as I found the presence of Jesus in my life. He gave me Himself, and in Him He is all I ever need!!! Instead of that empty and uneasy feeling that I had for so many years receiving this gift of Jesus filled me for the first time in my life!!! Where I had sought after and opened so many gifts of this world looking to find purpose in life, Jesus also gave me this, a purpose in my life that was so much bigger than myself! A purpose that is literally out of this world, a purpose that I have been given the chance to serve others and tell them about this awesome gift of Jesus and experiencing the joy of watching Jesus work in their lives!!! Wow, what a gift this has been! And this purpose is the only reason I send you these messages daily, without Jesus there is no way I would be doing this, but with Jesus, here we are and forward these words go to you.

There is so many things that Jesus has given me but the greatest gift of all is life. Where I was dead to my sin, Jesus made a way for me to receive the gift of eternal life. Life never ending as a child of God and a heavenly inheritance that will be the next step after this life on earth is over. To sit and think how much I deserve the pain, torture, and agony that comes with the death I deserve, to spend eternity in hell under the rule of the devil. Jesus in His great love came in like a superhero and saved my life, dying that death that I deserved so I wouldn’t have to and giving me life, life abundantly at that!!!!

I am humbled and so honored to be able to share with you this gift of Jesus. In no way should I be here sending you this message today, especially sharing with you the gift of life with Jesus! But I want you to know, this gift is free, there is nothing that you have to do for it, Jesus freely gives this gift of eternal life with Him to us!!! And also, after I struggled so long with this, it doesn’t matter what presents you have opened up before this day, the wrong you’ve done or the sins you’ve committed. Jesus in His awesome grace has placed this gift before you no matter what your past! I’m telling from experience, it may not make sense but the truth is Jesus loves you right where you’re at no matter where that is!!! I pray that this gift will be a reminder today of how awesome and HUGE this gift we’ve been given of Jesus is!!! And if you have never opened this gift and came to know Jesus personally, I’m here to tell you, don’t waste your days with ideas on what you think will be inside this gift from God. To know just how great and awesome this gift is, you’ll never know until you open that package to find the truth of who Jesus is and all He’s done for you inside! I promise it’s the greatest adventure you can ever go on and this gift of Jesus is unlike the gifts we may receive today because as most gifts are only temporary fixes, the gift of Jesus in your life is the gift that NEVER stops giving!!!

Merry Christmas from the God Gold of the day!!!

God Gold of the day

He died for everyone so that those who receive his new life will no longer live for themselves. Instead, they will live for Christ, who died and was raised for them. So we have stopped evaluating others from a human point of view. At one time we thought of Christ merely from a human point of view. How differently we know him now! This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun! And all of this is a gift from God, who brought us back to himself through Christ. And God has given us this task of reconciling people to him. For God was in Christ, reconciling the world to himself, no longer counting people’s sins against them. And he gave us this wonderful message of reconciliation. So we are Christ’s ambassadors; God is making his appeal through us. We speak for Christ when we plead, “Come back to God!” For God made Christ, who never sinned, to be the offering for our sin, so that we could be made right with God through Christ.’

2 Corinthians 5:15-21

I’m starting to feel more and more that sometimes it’s just best to send you a message of God’s powerful Word and truth, and let His Gold speak for itself. I know there is so many nuggets of gold throughout these verses but I challenge you today to spend some time and think about what God is saying here? What does He want you to learn or take-away? Dig into this today and I PROMISE, you’ll be glad you did!!!

“Don’t Waste Your Life”

God Gold of the day

Found this the other day and WOW!!! I was left sitting there just completely shook. I began asking myself questions that have deeply impacted my life and I pray they will help you in HUGE ways also!

“Am I wasting my life?”

“Do I think that I need to have/know a lot of things to make a difference for Christ in this world?”

or “Do I need to know only a few things of what’s important, and give my life to those truths completely and fully?”

This powerful truth made me take a lot of inventory on my life and the way I currently live it. At the end of the day, and the end of this life, what really matters besides how I lived for Christ? We all have a lot of things challenging us saying, “no live for me.” But just really let this hit you and ask yourself some real and hard questions. Let those answers and convictions change your life forever…..because they will!!!!! Have a great day!!

Astronaut? Show Me

God Gold of the Day

The Lord God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it. 16 And the Lord God commanded the man, “You are free to eat from any tree in the garden; 17 but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat from it you will certainly die.”/ Genesis 2:15-17

Got to spend some time with my buddy Troy in the Word yesterday preparing for a Bible study. It was probably like 15 minutes in and we were both just sitting there jaw dropped just completely mind blown at the truths we were seeing about God in His Word. I guess the main reason we were so taken back is thinking about the times we don’t spend in God’s Word. Even sending these messages daily, a lot of days I’m just picking verses that fit my life not opening up God’s Word and seeing what life-giving truth He has for me. After actually opening up His Word and digging into it, I highly recommend that route! After a couple of hours we both left strengthened, sharper, and just daggum excited about life and the LIFE God has given us! I make that challenge to you to dig into God’s Word because I know how easy it is not to and what life is like without that truth so I encourage you to dig in and I ask you to continue encouraging me to do the same. That’s what we’re here for, to encourage and push each other forward in life and closer to the Lord.

We were digging into the Gospel to share over the next couple of weeks at our Bible study that foundation story of Good News that God has given us to build our lives on. Like I said, we can both admit that spending time in the Word isn’t something we do well so we both kind of looked at each other, thinking, “the Gospel, where do we even begin?” For such an important truth in our lives, the story of Jesus Christ that gave us life and life eternally,  wouldn’t you think if it’s something you’re going to build your life off of or claim yourself as a follower of Jesus, then you should probably know every piece and every root to the Gospel that you so strongly believe right? Yeah, well me and Troy learned quickly yesterday that we’ve spent so much time claiming and thinking our life was founded on the Gospel but soon found out that there is so much more to it this beautiful story than we could ever imagine. It’s pretty much like claiming to be an astronaut for NASA because I mean it sounds super cool when you tell people. They think you are the highly skilled space man who knows how to get to space and that obviously puts you in a another stratosphere when others here that. But, when you get strapped in to the driver’s seat of that space craft, do you even know how to drive it? Do you even know the first move to make in cranking that rocket up? Have you ever even been to space? It sounded cool and others may have thought more of you but this big time truth you claim to tell everyone and put as the foundation to your whole life and all your beliefs on, it’s easy to claim you’re an astronaut, it’s easy to claim you follow Jesus Christ, but in all honesty can you even drive the space ship of the Gospel that God has given you as a vehicle not just to carry you up to eternal life one day, but eternal and abundant life here and now? Pretty convicting truth.

We didn’t know where to start with the Gospel because we were astronauts with no clue how to drive the rocket, so we figured, “hey, let’s start at the beginning, in Genesis.” We noticed something really cool about God in these verses. In the context of these verses God had just created the earth, all the animals, every part of everything and created the first man, Adam. God being perfect and Holy, created man in perfection, He created us to be with Him and walk in perfect fellowship with Him. Think about that, God being the good God He is wanted nothing but good for His creation of man. Adam was placed in the Garden of Eden, another beautiful part of God’s perfect creation and when I say He walked in perfect fellowship with God, He literally physically walked and hung out with God in the Garden.

So in these verses we see God’s goodness, love, and grace on full display to the first man and what’s cool is that God still feels this way towards me and you today. He put Adam over taking care of the Garden and working in it. He gave him purpose in life and a chance to serve the God who created Him through serving the Garden as a caretaker. Then we see God tells Adam, ” You are free to eat from any tree in the garden;.” Now we see that God has given us purpose, He then gives us provision by giving access to eat of any tree in the Garden. And think about that for a second, God’s creation is perfect and the Garden was perfect, just imagine how good that fruit was that God provided Adam access to!!! It was probably a whole lot better than what we find at grocery stores these days. So in God’s immense love for man, He provides Adam and us with purpose in life, giving us direction to move in and the chance to serve. Then in God’s love we see Him give provision giving us everything we need to continue striving and serving out our purpose on this earth, and some super delicious fruit!!! It’s so cool looking at that God told Adam point blank the way to complete and abundant LIFE with God, He provided Adam with everything He needed to live this perfect life and walk in perfect fellowship with the awesome, perfect and powerful Creator. LIFE to the fullest.

God has provided us with the same Word of LIFE from Him, He’s given us everything we need to see how to walk out life in the fullest and highest of ways. He’s given us the keys to the space ship, He has shown us everything we need to know through His Word on how to drive that rocket into space and whip through the stars. He has given us EVERYTHING to lift us up BUT, then in verse 17 God mentions there’s one tree not to be eaten of. The tree of knowledge of good and evil. We see how God wants nothing but the best for us, He wants nothing more than for us to have life and life to the fullest and in His love He gives us the keys and instruction to LIFE.

I saw this at first, and you can easily think, well if God wanted the best for us and Him being the creator, why would He put this forbidden tree in the Garden that causes death? God didn’t create this tree as bad, but God being all-knowing and sovereign as He is, He knew that the serpent, Satan, who had resisted God many times before was there waiting to tempt Adam and Eve to resist God too by eating of the tree. This is such an awesome picture of God’s grace to us, He doesn’t hide His commands from us. He tells us point blank through His Word the way to life and encourages us to walk in it. And in His grace, God knowing about the upcoming meeting with Satan’s temptation, He gives Adam a warning not to eat of this tree. He tells Adam straight up that eating this tree will lead to death. How awesome is that? We serve a God who loves us so much that He doesn’t just tell us about the good life with Him but He warns us of the temptation and attacks ahead from the evil one. “This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light; in him there is no darkness at all (1 John 1:5).” Satan brings sin and death into the world, he’ll do anything he can to entice us and tempt us to resist God and follow him instead. Satan is the “evil” part about the tree, he is the darkness that it talks about here in 1 John. “This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light; in him there is no darkness at all (1 John 1:5).

God created us with perfect fellowship with Him, He created us as perfect and good, to live with God who is completely and fully light. Eating of this tree would give Adam and Eve the knowledge of evil when all they knew was good because all they knew was God. God is light, perfect and holy, sin and darkness make it impossible to come before God in perfect fellowship because that darkness of sin separates us from God. It causes a division between us and God. We see God’s love and grace towards us so deeply in this passage and how powerful His Word is. His Word literally breathes life into me and you, points us in the direction of our perfect and loving Creator. His Word also warns us against the schemes from the evil one, Satan. God warns us because He doesn’t want us to experience sin, separation from Him and all the havoc that darkness brings into our lives. God wants nothing but good for me and you, He wants nothing but perfect fellowship with Him, a life to the fullest. I pray this elevates and brings you to a higher and mightier view of God and His loving and faithful relationship to us. I also hope this challenges you like it has me to dig into God’s Word to experience more of Him and the life He brings to us, but also prepare you for the temptations and attacks from the evil one.

What’s crazy is this is only the beginning of the story of the Gospel. The root of who we are and who God is, and also showing our need for Him. I highly recommend digging into God’s Word and not just say you’re a Christian. Actually find out what God has done, who He is and why this good news of the Gospel truly is soooo GOOD! It’s easy to claim to be an astronaut but can you even drive the rocket? Can you even get to space? Challenge your beliefs and challenge your faith. See what God has for you, after seeing this, you know it’s nothing but GOOD!!!
