Talk is Cheap, Faith is Simple

God Gold of the Day

‘And behold, some people brought to him a paralytic, lying on a bed. And when Jesus saw their faith, he said to the paralytic, “Take heart, my son; your sins are forgiven.” And behold, some of the scribes said to themselves, “This man is blaspheming.” But Jesus, knowing their thoughts, said, “Why do you think evil in your hearts? For which is easier, to say, ‘Your sins are forgiven,’ or to say, ‘Rise and walk’? But that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins” —he then said to the paralytic— “Rise, pick up your bed and go home.” When the crowds saw it, they were afraid, and they glorified God, who had given such authority to men. And he rose and went home. ‘

Tested Faith=Golden Faith

God Gold of the Day

“A faith that hasn’t been tested can’t be trusted.”

― Adrian Rogers

‘So be truly glad. There is wonderful joy ahead, even though you must endure many trials for a little while. These trials will show that your faith is genuine. It is being tested as fire tests and purifies gold—though your faith is far more precious than mere gold. So when your faith remains strong through many trials, it will bring you much praise and glory and honor on the day when Jesus Christ is revealed to the whole world. You love him even though you have never seen him. Though you do not see him now, you trust him; and you rejoice with a glorious, inexpressible joy. The reward for trusting him will be the salvation of your souls.’

1 Peter 1:6-9

Faith>Sight

God Gold of the Day

‘for we walk by faith, not by sight. ‘

2 Corinthians 5:7

I’m pumped up to share an awesome piece of truth with y’all today that I pray will not only impact today, but will springboard you to taking up this truth throughout your week!

Lately, the Lord has been teaching me this lesson more and more, and wouldn’t you know it that this verse from His Word keeps finding it’s way into my life! I know this is a super short verse but it holds SO MUCH POWERFUL TRUTH if we don’t overlook it and grab onto what God is telling us here.

In my everyday life, with work, school, time with my wife and others, I’ve seen this pattern continuing to come up in my life. I’ve noticed many areas where I was facing doubt, worry, and basing my actions off of what others around me do or say. Realizing this has been a big-time eye opener to me but also extremely convicting. I found myself asking good questions from this truth, “am I living off of sight, by what I see around me, what I see others do or say, by how I think I should feel or how I do feel? Or am I living by faith, seeing life through Jesus’ eyes and acting in ways that He would act?”

Unfortunately, I saw the answers to those questions laid in the arena of sight more than faith. The things I noticed from living by sight was a hard pill to swallow but thank God for His truth and how He is constantly teaching us because without Him we would live our lives in the same old rotten hole and never be able to dig our way out. Living by sight, it was moments where I saw someone doing something that I know isn’t right and acting in a way that doesn’t line up with how Jesus would respond. Or in another scenario, if someone was treating me or speaking to me poorly then, I would find myself once again being controlled by the noise and situations around me in how I handled those moments. Living by sight is something that holds us back and puts a barrier between us and how God calls us to live.

Living by sight is living out of the negative energy and words we hear or see around us every single day and responding in a similar fashion. Living by sight is when we have work that must get done, work that God has called us to do, but living by sight we see it in a horizontal worldly perspective and fall prey to the lies of; “you don’t have what it takes to accomplish this task, look at how much you have to do, this is going to be so hard, you could never do all that.”

It’s things like that where living by sight brings out the worst in us, it holds us back and always makes excuses or justifies our actions to give minimal effort or handle situations in a poor hearted, low living way. Living by sight can be crippling, it can cause us to live by the ways people are acting or speaking around us instead of living in the truth of what God has shown us is right and living by our convictions of faith.

Now on the other hand, living by faith changes the game completely, instead of living out of how you feel, how others are acting around you, or what the world tells you is truth. Living by faith raises our perspective because our faith is in Jesus Christ! Therefore, our vision is lifted to seeing life through the lens of Jesus, we hear someone say something negative, where living by sight says stay quiet or be upset and negative in response because that’s what they deserve. Living by faith shows us a lifted up outlook on how to handle it, by faith in Christ we see how Christ would want us to handle it, to love and encourage others despite how they are acting, despite how they treat you, or what you think they deserve. Living by faith raises our standards of living to that of Jesus, and just like Jesus, acting out of faith instead of by sight, the world around us and the people around us is deeply affected by the way we act. Living by faith is going against the grain, yeah you may not feel like it, yeah you may have had a long day at work and nobody would think otherwise if you acted lazily or negative, but we aren’t called to live by sight and live out of the convictions of the world and what the world says is okay. We are called to live by faith and that means to stop looking at your situation in your small, horizontal human vision.

Living by faith says to lift your eyes up to Jesus, see Him and who He is, take notice of His powerful presence and provision in your life. Then watch all those false “sight expectations” you kept putting on so many areas of your life melt away in the place of Jesus. Living by sight sets our expectations super low, but LIVING BY FAITH says you are enough through Jesus who gives you strength, that what He has called you to He’s equipped you for, that no situation or task is too great for the Lord of Lords and the King of Kings to overcome!!!!

Living by sight can control you and have you living a very low, small and fearful life. That sucks. So let’s make a focus this week to not do that. Let’s live by faith and let the chains that we’ve been letting our “sight living” set for us be ripped away! You don’t have to act on how you feel, you don’t have to act by what you see, you get to act out of faith in Jesus and in sight of how Jesus would act!!! Live by faith, not by sight, for sight holds you back and through faith, Jesus can do some pretty awesome things in your life!!!!

Renewed

God Gold of the Day

“Have you not known? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He does not faint or grow weary; his understanding is unsearchable. He gives power to the faint, and to him who has no might he increases strength. Even youths shall faint and be weary, and young men shall fall exhausted; but they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.”

‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭41:28-31‬ ‭

Continuing to talk more about God, digging deeper into who He is, and just how amazing this relationship we have with Him is. I’ve heard these verses a few times before but mostly I just thought they sounded cool, “renew my strength, mount up with wings like eagles.” I mean, come on, tell me that doesn’t sound super cool?!??

But today I experienced these verses in my life and realized that this Word doesn’t just sound cool, it’s true, it’s cool and it’s so real how these aren’t just words but God’s Word to me and you, and His Word is real and true!!!! Sorry I’m getting jacked up! But been dealing with some allergy stuff the past few days, nothing major but with each day it’s just gotten worse and worse even with taking medicine. The tough part is that I’ve had things going on that I couldn’t miss, yesterday was work 8am-5pm then church from 6:30-9, then work again today along with wedding stuff to do and getting ready to move out. It was a lot to handle and to be honest I knew I didn’t have a choice but to handle it.

What’s crazy is that I’m not very good with being sick. I usually start acting like a victim, complaining, wanting to pull that sick card and I usually just lie down and give up. I wanted so badly to act with my “usual” and give up yesterday, call out of work, not go to church, I didn’t feel like doing either but I knew I needed the money, my soon to be wife needed it, and there was kids that needed to be served. I could tell you all day long that it was me that did all this, persevered and got through it but I’d be lying. If it was up to me I wouldn’t have even got out of bed today or yesterday. I was in a tough spot, I didn’t feel like I had enough in me to make it through and do what needed to be done, I had no one or nowhere else to turn to but God. So I prayed, then as the sickness didn’t get better but got worse, I kept praying.

I was simply just asking God to help me get through the day, to show a good attitude to each person I was around at work or at church despite how I felt and wanted to act. God just please give me strength to endure and survive. I wanted so bad to go my usual route but as the days went on, the worse I felt but I could feel God pushing me forward, giving me everything I needed to get through and even a little more to get through like a champion. I felt defeated but God helped me feel victorious.

These verses speak so true to what I went through these past couple of days. It’s an experience that points directly to God and what He’s capable of doing in our lives. I love how the beginning of the verses start, “Have you not known, have you not heard?”

It’s a question we can ask ourselves daily whether we are going through physical struggles, emotional or just life struggles. Have you not heard of God, have you not heard of what He can do, what He is capable of doing?

Then it’s like Isaiah is saying, alright buckle your seat belts and I’ll show you the answer.

“The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth.

“Everlasting”- never ending, eternal, never dying, always living GOD!!!

“The creator of the ends of the earth.”

Wow!!! Think about that for a second, this God we have the privilege of having a relationship with, this God who loves us, this same God created EVERYTHING!!! Look at how powerful and capable God is!

“He gives power to the faint, and to him who has no might he increases strength. Even youths shall faint and be weary, and young men shall fall exhausted; but they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.”

Now we see what God does for us, how He treats us and loves us. When we are weak, God is there to give us strength, if we have no might, if we are in a situation that looks impossible, a sickness, an addiction, anything! God increases the might of those people. Even when the people who should never be tired or give out do give out, like it says youths or young people. If you just “wait on the Lord.” Be PATIENT in His PROMISE, in His POWER, even when it looks like things are just getting worse, wait on God.

The Lord will renew their strength”

RENEW”: to make like new : restore to freshness, vigor, or perfection

When we feel old, worn out, weak, and a victim to impossible circumstances, God RENEWS OUR STRENGTH! He gives us a new energy, strength and power to endure that we didn’t have just a minute ago. God does what we think only a good nights sleep or medicine can do, He gives us what we need and then some to not just get through but walk through our struggle and weakness victoriously!

“they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.”

And the part I always thought just sounded cool. Well it’s even cooler now because it’s real life, it’s God! It’s what God can do in our lives! I’m amazed that I made it through these days and the only thing I can think to say is, God!!! It’s so awesome that we serve a God that is so constant in His love to us. When we take our problems or weaknesses to Him, we are speaking to a God that can do it all! Look around you He has done it all! But it’s just awesome to know when we take these things we’re dealing with to God, He always responds in provision and giving us all we need and then some. Realizing these verses weren’t just cool but real truth about God and what He’s capable of doing. Made me think of what the possibilities are in my life when I give my burdens to God, my addictions and my struggles. After watching God work these last couple of days it’s obvious that there’s nothing He can’t do but just looking at what takes place when God is at the lead, when all we have is depending on Him, God moves us from our “usual” or the worlds “usual” and lifts us up, carries us and gives us the strength to fly into the unusual!

With God in my life, He gave me the strength to rise up and do things that I usually wouldn’t do, things that I thought I couldn’t do. What do you need to take to God? How can God renew your strength? For what situation do you need strength? What happens when you trust in who He is and what He can do? Can you imagine a life risen above the usual or norm? Well if you have God then you can believe and trust that He will show you and give you everything you need to live that life! God takes us from our weakness and rises us up to His level of life, with His level of power, to fulfill His mighty purpose! If you think God can’t do it, think again because there’s nothing our God can’t do!!!!
