What are we waiting on?

God Gold of the Day

Honestly I was just searching random “Christian” YouTube videos to just expand my own mind some but to find some interesting and cool content for y’all to see. It didn’t take long and I ran across this video, I’ll be honest I was looking for something to get fired up and excited myself, something that may help you feel the same. But randomly, or not so randomly if you have experienced the way God works things out, I ran across this.

After watching this, I didn’t know what to say. I have heard of the persecution Christians around the world face but I guess not being faced with that kind of persecution here in my own life, I always just heard of it but it never seemed that real to me. This video just captured me in the fact of how stinkin REAL persecution is in other countries around the world. I had so many feelings after watching this video but the main feeling was by far, conviction. I feel like because I live in the United States of America, in the Bible Belt with a church every where you look, it’s easy to get comfortable in how good we have it here. Then you see that there is people literally giving their lives just so they don’t have to deny Christ. To see that there is placed in this world that having a Bible and believing in Jesus is so bad that they would kill another human being. That blows my mind but it’s real, it’s happening and I felt convicted.

Why convicted? Well for starters just the fact that I sometimes avoid Jesus conversations with others around me because I don’t want to make anyone else feel uncomfortable, or “offend” anyone. Sometimes I get caught in this comfortable “American Dream” lifestyle and am satisfied with just being a “good” church goer every Sunday. I heard someone say recently that in America, Christians face a bigger risk to be a “comfortable Christian” than they do to be a radical, highly persecuted one. That’s easy to see why that is. Because it’s easy to be comfortable especially if you have nothing pushing you to see that sense of urgency to share the love of Jesus, to live by and speak Gods Word into others lives with no hesitation. I felt convicted because I don’t know how I’d answer the question, “you can reject Christ and live, or accept Him and die, the choice is yours?”

This video opened my eyes a lot to see the persecution that’s going on around the world, the lives that are being sacrificed all for the love of Jesus. I may not see that stuff everyday but with conviction, must come action. Conviction with no movement is just hidden faith. Conviction of what we see going on in the world around us, conviction about not living a life that stands firm against all the things that our comfortable society deems as “normal” and “okay.” Conviction must be followed up with action! I’ll admit over and over again how comfortable I can be and how comfortable I am in my faith a lot of the time in my life. But after seeing the fight that’s going on and I sit here questioning if I should tell a buddy at work about Jesus because I’m worried how he’ll look at me, or I’m afraid of what he’ll think about me??? What is that? I’m convicted of not living the life of radical abandonment to this world, putting all of those temporary earthly problems aside and living all out with urgency to share and live for Jesus Christ alone!!!

I don’t know what your feelings will be after watching this video but if you feel convicted in the least bit, which I’m guessing you will, let’s not just hear of what going on in the world around us and then put it aside because our lives are comfy and nice, and that persecution isn’t happening to us so what’s the big deal? Let’s move in our conviction and join the fight that Christ has called us to! Honestly, I want to challenge myself and you to live a life so sold out for Jesus and so out of tune with the “normal” of this world that we would expect nothing less to be persecuted! Hey, if you’re being persecuted that’s when you know you’re doing something right! Jesus told us to expect it but to also realize at the end of the day that He has overcame the world so we fight from the winning side! Nothing or nobody can stop what Jesus can and will do!!! It’s easy to sit by comfortably and be Sunday Christians but Christ has called us to SO MUCH MORE!!!! I am praying for you today and I ask you pray for me that we will no longer settle for safety, no longer settle for “fitting in” but rather, stepping up and standing out!!! I pray that we will learn to surrender and live as examples to the world around us that we live for a Savior who’s love is too great to live just “normal” lives!! Jesus never said it would be an easy path, He actually said the road is narrow, and few will go down it, but that road is SO WORTH IT!!! As it’s the road that leads to eternal life here and now and one day with Him! Lets strive to be persecuted! As funny as that sounds, it’s just a product that you’re living the life God has called you to! So let’s live in the way Christ lived, let’s love others in the way that He loves us, let’s step away from selfishness and taking the easy road that makes us feel good, let’s step into what Christ has called us to do and see what He will do…..I don’t know about you but this Spiritual war is raging all around us, now it’s time to step into the fight, pick up our crosses and truly FOLLOW Jesus with all that we have! In complete surrender to the name above all names!

24 year old dude with not a clue what he's doing but God's grace continues to amaze me! Current Seminary student, avid adventure seeker, and getting married to the most humble, weird, and beautiful girl on the planet! Wasted a lot of years living what I thought was the "good life", then Christ showed me what living really is. I pray that my story can somehow help in whatever way possible, to give encouragement and hope that Christ can do the same with you.

  1. Persecution happens here in North America as well but we don’t talk about it. We don’t talk about it because it is usually the Christians who are persecuting those that step out in faith. That is a hard pill to swallow for most. We want to believe we are all on the same page spiritually but we aren’t. Those that get caught up in religion often are the worst offenders persecuting those that want more of Jesus.

Now the persecution we see here isn’t killing of the body…yet…but it will get there. Persecution always starts with seeing someone as being different than you. Once you see that, if you are not careful, you can be moved by fear to say something against the person that is different. Get enough people together saying the same thing and you will see that fear move them from words to actions. Once they get emboldened to action it is a small step from rejecting a person to actually killing them. Watch the news. Do you really believe that the socialist left is content with just bad mouthing conservatives? Watch their actions. In the same manner do we really believe that those in religion will be content to ‘just’ speak out against those who leave to pursue more of God? ‘Self’ and satan have a way of pushing those boundaries. The time of persecution of followers of Jesus is coming to these shores. Although it is not full blown yet it IS here.

Regardless of the persecution that is here and what is coming we know we have a God who is leading us into more of Himself should we choose to follow. The testing of our faith now will prepare us for the persecution facing us in the future. We need to learn how to lay our lives down in faith now so that when we actually have to lay our lives down physically we will not betray Jesus. This is crucial for our testimony will rest not on our words but our actions in faith. If we cannot do that when the timber is green we will not do it when the timber is dry. This is why Jesus is preparing us now. We would all do well to follow the lessons of faith Jesus is giving us today.

    Anyways, something to think about.
