God Gold of the Day

God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.

Psalms 46:1

Saw this on the Bible app as the verse of the day and it really fit for what I’ve been going through. I don’t know about you but when problems arise in any way, whether it’s a personal problem or a problem with someone else, I immediately start trying to solve it as fast as I can so everything can be perfect! The problem with that is the word “I”. No matter how bad I may want to solve it, no matter what I do or say, I can’t solve anything without Him. I constantly find myself trying to fix problems and make everything better but all I end up doing is making things worse. Even if my intentions are great, I’ll end up taking it too far and making the problem a way bigger mess than it had to be. After reading this verse and failing so many times as a problem solver and people pleaser, it’s easy to see what the best step of action to take is, simply stepping back and taking it to the Lord. It’s one of those things with our human instincts and the self-made world we live in where it’ll always be hard to say, “I can’t solve this, but the Lord will show me how to handle it best.” God is our refuge, the place where we can go and take our problems that get us down and get us worked up, instead taking them to Him we rest peacefully in our problems, we can sit in the comfort of knowing whatever His will is, that’s where I want to be. When we go off our strength that’s when we fail, and this isn’t the strength of lifting a bunch of weight on the bench press or doing something super manly. God is talking about strength to handle the problem in His ways, when you want to get it solved quick He gives us the strength to be patient for the outcome cause if we aren’t patient enough to let God work things out on His timing then we’re trying to serve ourselves and follow our timing which is what leads to being extra and making the problem worse than it had to be. Also, strength in admitting the realness of the problem. Being able to admit that this problem will take time to get through, we’ll have to step aside from what we think is right and see the problem with Gods eyes. And being able to admit that no matter what we do, this life will never be perfect, we’ll always have problems, things we struggle with or relationships that are going through a bumpy patch. God gives us strength to admit that everything isn’t okay and some problems can’t be solved, they are just stuff we have to continue taking to God daily and eventually things will get better. The best part is that God is our present help when trouble arises! By present that means right here and now, the moment things go south God is  there ready to help us, whether that’s giving us strength to handle the situation in His ways or just give us peace and security knowing no matter how big the trouble gets, God will work everything out according to His plan and purpose for our lives even if we can’t see it right then. After learning the hard way too many times to count this verse isn’t a problem solver but it’s a life changer! We’ll always have problems, but the question is, do we try and solve them on our own or do we take them to the only One who can really give us what we need to handle it in the best way possible? Praying that this awesome piece of God’s Word can help you through whatever problems you face!!!

24 year old dude with not a clue what he's doing but God's grace continues to amaze me! Current Seminary student, avid adventure seeker, and getting married to the most humble, weird, and beautiful girl on the planet! Wasted a lot of years living what I thought was the "good life", then Christ showed me what living really is. I pray that my story can somehow help in whatever way possible, to give encouragement and hope that Christ can do the same with you.
